RED CANYON RANCH :: SEDALIA
Nestled up to the side of a mountain, Red Canyon Ranch looks down the gorgeous horse country of Plum Creek Valley in Sedalia, Colorado. The couple, both accomplished riders, had just returned from a trip to France which cemented their goal of creating a home reminiscent of a chateaux that had been completed in sections over centuries. Frequent entertainers, empty-nesters and grandparents, the couple desired a space that was open and comfortable and encouraged exploration. The kitchen includied a social area where you could belly up to the bar complete with grill, beer keg, ice machine, and beverage cooler. After taking a dip in the pool or a soak in the adjoining hot tub, the outdoor fireplace provides a cozy hangout.
The house was designed with three distinct wings; a master’s suite, a guest & entertainment center section, and the third wing housing the four car garage, storage and helicopter hangar. Two intermediate circulation sections connect the wings of the home together. This layout emphasizes the “built over time” feeling of the home.
Although definitely influenced by the countryside of France, the house is deeply rooted in the Colorado landscape. Exposed beams, a variety of rock, custom local ironwork, and earthy colors make this home meld into its surroundings, softening over time and giving the appearance of an old Colorado homestead evolving over the decades.
