Energetic & Playful

The redesign of this entry, dining room and kitchen channels an energetic, open, and playful spirit. By removing the maze of small rooms and hallways, the home was freed of its fragmentation, allowing light and movement to flow uninterrupted. Raising the kitchen and entry ceilings to align with the dining and living rooms introduced a sense of airiness—creating the illusion of expansive square footage without adding a single inch. Additionally, new windows were added and existing ones enlarged, lending a stronger connection to the treed backyard.

Designed with durability in mind for a family with teenagers, the kitchen centers on quartzite—renowned as the most resilient of natural stones. Beyond its strength, the material offers a spectrum of tones and dynamic movement. Here, the quartzite island claims its role as the sculptural anchor of the space.

The resulting space feels open and alive, capable of handling the constant demands of an active family.
