This media room, which is also serving as a home office, has long been due for a makeover but the pandemic made a remodel a definite priority for the owners. In 2020, Covid19 kept all of us in our homes for much more time than we ever thought possible. Since several areas in this home are slated to be updated, planning a very cost-efficient remodel of this area was particularly important.

Designhouse chose a color palette of black, white, and tan in order to allow the brightly colored original artwork from the owner’s native Poland to take center stage. The neutral color scheme also allowed the books to be a fun and colorful highlight rather than an overwhelming jumble. Much of the furniture was borrowed from other parts of the home, but a new wall system of glossy white cabinets keeps the room organized and efficient. Layered jute rugs warm the room while providing a durable solution when entertaining guests.
